STATEMENT
David Chalmers
David Chalmers has grown up with the North Sea as his 'back garden'. In a recent series of seascapes he has focused his work on the manmade coastal architecture that has attempted to protect the land for so long. He became interested in the beauty and solidity of anchored, yet decaying concrete structures that lay defensive against the weight of tidal water. Working with the quiet light of dawn and dusk his photographs aim to record and reveal the fragile nature of the coastline, documenting the effects upon human history, and of history upon nature.
