STATEMENT
Angela Chalmers
Her work makes enquiries about the human condition. Themes of memory, gender, identity and the body politic are explored through the process of painting, drawing and photography. Her artistic processes vary from inks on paper, hot wax encaustic painting and old photography processes, such as cyanotypes.
Angela often paints small studies that act as preliminary work for larger paintings and draws inspiration from the eroded surfaces of ancient friezes and fragmented forms of Greek sculpture.
